Abstract Wave | Milk Effects No4

In this abstract wave system, I used a screw shape, pushed through the surface, to get the spiral wave pattern. A little bit of tinkering with the material and I got this [almost] coffee and cream look. Abstract Waves | Milk Effects No3

For this third abstract waves piece, I tried a different approach for the liquid material (and a different wave/brush object). One of my favorite childhood books was The Color Kittens (http://amzn.com/0307021416). Shocking, I know. This piece brought back that memory. [My memory still works! Woohoo!!] Abstract Waves | Milk Effects No3 Prints Get a print…

Milk Effects #2 | Abstract Waves

This is another abstract waves piece – playing with dynamically painted wave systems. For some reason, this strikes me as a looming creature with big teeth (but happy). Essentially, I have a canvas surface that receives the wave data and a brush object that generates the wave data. For this project, the brush object is also linked…

Abstract Milk Effect #1

In the course of trying to do one thing, I often learn how to do another. While working on a surreal landscape, I wanted to create a more realistic water environment that incorporated rain. So, I set out to determine what the options were, and I discovered that (in Blender) I could use particle systems…

pastel abstract | Easter in the Park

Easter in the Park, with a slight chance of rain. A brighter (happier?), pastel abstract. Again, playing with lines and reflections. Created in Blender. As with my other recent projects, the only object that is directly visible is an irregular, mirrored surface – a plane with an ocean modifier applied. There is also an array of…

Lines & Interference

Just playing with lines – curves, actually – and how they look with lights and shadows, how they can create interference patterns.

Spring Abstract Two 030216

I had to do another spring abstract. Just ’cause I felt like it. Buy this Spring Abstract This print is available for purchase on a variety of materials and products at: http://matt-lindley.pixels.com/featured/spring-two-030216-matt-lindley.html

Spring Abstract

Since it feels like spring (and has for the past couple of months), I felt like doing a spring-themed piece. I also needed to do an abstract, since I have been tied up with other projects for a while. So, this weekend, I created this spring abstract. I began this project in Blender, by creating a fluid…

Blender Mandelbulb

A few weeks ago, I started experimenting with using Python in Blender to create fractal meshes. My goal was to create a Mandelbulb – similar to what you can get from the app Mandelbulb 3D. While I had some success (I was able to generate a Mandelbrot mesh), I was not able to generate a very…

Image Tile Script For MandelBulb 3D, Blender, and Photoshop

First, the files for the Image Tile Script. Blender Addon: RenderTilesPanel.zip Photoshop Script: compositeFromImageTilesWithZBuf_v3.0.2.zip After downloading the image tile scripts, scan the zips for malware (but you were going to do that already, because you are smarter than the average user, aren’t you?) before you unzip them. Installing the Blender Addon For the Blender Addon, open Blender, go to…

digital abstract | crapulence

I think I still had Thanksgiving dinner on my mind. I over ate. Of course I over ate. All the things you would not normally consider eating for the rest of the year are laid out in a dizzying display of opulence. You begin to methodically load your plate with reasonable portions of each item. Before…
